Would I Fit In?
Absolutely. We're young and old; never-married singles, traditional families, single-parent families, divorced singles, widowed singles and empty nesters. We live in Minden, Homer, Doyline, Gibsland, Haughton, Springhill, and throughout Webster, Claiborne and Bossier Parishes. Some of us grew up in the Episcopal Church; others came to the Episcopal Church as adults from other Protestant denominations, the Roman Catholic Church, or from no church background at all. Some of us cherish tradition; others like new ways of doing things. Some of us wear suits; others wear jeans and T-shirts. In short, everyone is welcome at St. John's.
Where is St. John's?
St. John’s is located Broadway Street directly past downtown Minden on “church row”. The front entrance of St. John’s faces Broadway on the same side of the street as the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. The Youth Center (a former residence) is on the corner of Broadway and Lewisville Rd. across from the Presbyterian Church. Our parking lot and parish hall are located behind the Youth Center and are readily seen from Lewisville Rd.
Will I Be Welcome?
Yes, but we also respect your privacy. We won't ask you to stand up and identify yourself as a visitor. We won't pounce on you as you come in the door or as you leave, but we will try to greet you and welcome you. (If we don't on your first visit, forgive us. Sometimes things get a little hectic, and some of us tend to be a little introverted ourselves.) If you visit the 10:30 service, you're invited to join us for coffee and brunch following that service in our Parish Hall.
What About My Kids?
Children are always welcome at St. John's. Your kids are always welcome to sit with you in Church, or younger nursery-aged children may go to the nursery and be brought to you before communion if you desire.
Quiet Bags for young children are available in the narthex (entrance) or from an usher. The bulletins are dated for each Sunday, and the subjects are related to the theme and readings of the day.
